A popular choice in bed style, divans offer good value for money and can come with storage drawers or as an ottoman. A divan base significantly supports the mattress and impacts your sleeping surface. Divans are structured from a timber frame with a fabric covering and are supported on either solid legs or castors.
Our divan bases are available in three options:
A solid top / platform edge
This choice of divan is a fully upholstered to with no springs, meaning your mattress will be resting on a very firm surface. This base also allows the mattress to compress only which provides you with a firmer mattress.
This type of divan is a fully open coil or a pocket sprung unit from edge to edge. Your mattress’s durability is increased as the mattress and base springs mould to the body of the divan.
This functions as a whole unit of shallow pocket springs on top of a foam layer, which are enclosed in a wood container body. This lets in the springs within the bed open as well as compress providing a softer feel than a solid-pinnacle base.
Tip: We suggest buying or replacing your divan base and mattress both at the same time as the two are made to work together, hand in hand. A divan base will affect how your mattress performs and feels so this is always a good choice.
Different from divans, bed frames or bedsteads are built with a base, legs, headboard and frequently a footboard. Fitted with strong timber or sprung slats, bed frames offer good support to both you and your mattress.
Manufactured in wood, steel and our bed frames also come upholstered in fabric or faux leather. We have a wide range of bed frames available in a variety of patterns and styles including sleigh beds.
If you are looking for storage then a smart choice would be an ottoman or divan bed. These are both perfect choices if you are limited on storage space.
Various options are available including single end drawer, two drawer divan and four drawer divans with draws on the left and right side. If you are not keen on drawers, then an ottoman style is an excellent alternative. The base of the bed lifts upwards, offering lots of space inside. This style of bed is great for storing bedding, towels and clothing.
When it comes to guest beds, we have a few options choose from. A popular choice of guest bed is the single bed frame which includes a secondary collapsible bed, when not in use, this secondary bed tucks away neatly underneath the main bed frame. This is an excellent solution for a guest bed and one that takes up the least amount of space when not in use.
Another popular choice of guest bed is a day bed. A more traditional type of bed, they look exactly like a single bed but have a back and arm rests. A two in one solution – sofa by day and bed by night.
If you are looking for an occasional use guest bed, sofa beds can be very fitting. Sofa beds have multi functional use and give you the flexibility to use them as and when needed. On a day to day basis you have the option to keep it as a sofa and as and when need be, you can use it as a bed. This is a great option for when you have guests over, or just want a cosy night in. Very versatile, our sofa beds come in a variety of styles, sizes and colours and can easily be converted into a bed when required.
If the sofa bed is to be used only occasionally, then choose a style with foam mattress as this will provide sufficient support for occasional use. However, if the sofa bed is going to be used regularly as a bed, it is worth considering upgrading to a pocket sprung mattress as this will offer additional comfort and support.
